CLCC President’s Message
Dear friends and neighbors,
Well, we’re at the mid-point of the summer and the lake is still riding high. Last year at this time the lake was a foot lower. So we should have some really good sailing conditions over the next two months. Hopefully I’ll find some time to get out there myself. So far I’ve bailed my boat eight times and only sailed her once. It ain’t right I tell ya.
Speaking of sailing, be sure to come out to the lake and watch the Cedar Lake Sailing Club Annual Cup Race on Sunday, September 3rd starting at 10:00 AM. The West Beach or the boat landing nearby both have good views of the race.
On the following Saturday, September 9th, the CLCC will be hosting its annual Cedar Lake end-of-summer celebration, CedarFest. In addition to the general admission menu, the event will feature special orders of Steamer Clams, BBQ Chicken, and added just this year, BBQ Pork Ribs. Look for details in this blurb issue. As always, the event committee is looking for volunteers on the day of the event. Half hour shifts setting up, cooking, serving and breaking down are available. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
I also want to invite and encourage all golfers to sign up for the annual Cedar Lake Golf Outing at Minebrook Golf Course in Hackettstown on Sept 23rd. Minebrook is a challenging course with scenic views. After the match, participants enjoy catered lunch and refreshments in Minebrook’s classic old grill room. See details in this Blurb issue.
Speaking of cold ones, the club is happy to announce the replacement of the carpet in the upstairs bar area. The new carpet is a deep blue tweed that highlights the bars teal paneling. Come on down and take your shoes
off. While your down there, sign up to become a member of the bartending team.
Finally, the Blurb has been undergoing some changes to streamline and modernize its production. Please bear with us as we transition to a blog-based format.
Until next time, in the words of John Lydgate: “You can please some of the people all the time. And you can please all the people some of the time But you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” So, don’t sweat it.
The Cedar Lake Board of Directors would like to thank all of you who have already joined the Community Club for 2017 by paying your dues. A record number have sent their checks already. This is a great start to the membership for 2017. Many thanks!

This year is a draw down year. If you are a lakefront property owner and you will be repairing your wall or docks, all projects must have CLPO Board approval prior to the start of your project. Depending on the project, DEP permitting may be required as well as a permit from the Township of Denville. Please submit your request along with your construction plans as soon as possible to:
91 Cedar Lake E
Denville, NJ 07834
Failure to do so could result in fines and delay of your project.
Boats & Landings
Lakefront property owners should store their boats on their own property and not the landings. Please remove your boats from the landings to provide space to non-lakefront stockholders. In addition, boats without a 2017 tag are subject to removal from the landings and a $100 redemption fee.
Save the Date! The 92nd Annual Meeting of the stockholders of the Cedar Lake Property Owners, Inc. will be held at the Clubhouse on September 15, 2017. Your vote is important. In order to conduct business, a quorum is necessary which means a majority of stockholders (50% plus 1) must vote in person or by their proxy. Stockholders will be receiving their packets in late August and are asked to complete, sign and return their proxies even if they plan to attend the meeting.
The CLPO would like to welcome new stockholders Nicola Malaguti and Elisa Rinetti, 70 Hillcrest Drive; Monica Baioneta, 95 Cedar Lake W; James Dinegar, 84 Cedar Lake W; and Alisha and Sean Desmet, 79 Cedar Lake W.
Reminder: Standing water is breeding ground for mosquitos. If you are storing your boat at a landing or at your property, please make sure it is turned over to eliminate any standing water. Paddleboats are particularly susceptible to standing water in their bottom wells. The recent threat of the Zika virus, a mosquito-borne virus which causes birth defects in pregnant women, makes the removal of mosquito breeding grounds even more important. Please be a courteous neighbor!
Lifeguard Schedule, Beach Hours, Rules, & Regulations for the Remainder of the 2017 Summer Lake Season
Lifeguards will be on duty at the beaches through Labor Day weekend as follows:
August 7th – Labor Day Weekend
East and West Beaches
Monday through Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Both beaches may not always be fully staffed due to staffing and scheduling limitations. At those times, the East Beach has priority for a lifeguard. When lifeguards are not present all NJ State Bathing Regulations and CLPO rules will still apply.
As a reminder to all Cedar Lake beach-going parents or supervisors of young children and of non-swimmers:
Young children and non-swimmers cannot be in the water by themselves. A parent or supervisor must be within arms length of these individuals at all times. Flotation devices, i.e. bubbles or swimmies, have been known to fail and do not make a non-swimmer a swimmer.
Our lifeguards are not babysitters. It is the responsibility of the parent/supervisor to be within arms length of their young child(ren) or non-swimmers at all times while in they are in the water.
Thank you for your cooperation in making this a fun, safe summer.
Use of the beach for parties or other activities requires permission from the Water Safety Committee. Guest tags and more lifeguards may be required for an additional fee. Please contact CLPO Secretary Pat Strother for an application and more information at (973) 586-6334 or email email@example.com.
CLPO Membership tags are required at all times, including those times when lifeguards are not present at the beaches. Membership tags or guest tags are also required at the float or when boating and/or fishing.
