CLCC President’s Message
Dear friends and neighbors,
Fall has sprung
Leaves, come undone
Flashing colors in the blue
A ripple stirs
A Silent hue, then
Excuse my lame attempt at poetry. There really are no words to describe the beauty of Cedar Lake in the Fall. I know a lot of people may like other seasons more, no problem. Cedar Lake beauty lasts all year long. Need proof? Just check out the contest winning photos now hanging downstairs at the Clubhouse. While you’re there, also check out some of the newly repaired trophies and other Cedar Lake relics on display. Special thanks to Michele, Jenn, Eileen and Chris for all their work on this project.
Also, big thanks to Neil Hogan for raising the American flag on Christmas Tree Island. Apparently, our neighbor Mr. Patterson told him that there used to always be a flag out there, and asked him if he could possibly put one up. Neil said sure I’ll put up a flag. It looks great.
Wow, the lake is really low. How low is it? It’s so low the fish are swimming sideways. But while it’s so low, in addition to allowing for dock repairs, it’s a great opportunity to row out and take note of where all the sailing hazards are. I actually found a few of the rocks I’ve run into. Also interesting to see is where the original sea wall was on the east side before the lake was damned off and enlarged.
As the days get shorter and it’s getting darker earlier, remember to drive with caution and watch out for kids, walkers and deer. At the risk of becoming a bumper sticker, there’s no need to speed. On that note, let me just agree with Henry David Thoreau and say: “I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”

Work continues at the East Beach to repair the small dock. Our thanks to Chris Aughey, Steve Kovacs, Billy Nowicky, Chuck Femminella and Wayne Leonard for their efforts.
Please note that boats remaining on the landings are subject to $100 retrieval fee unless previous arrangements have been made with the Secretary for their removal. The CLPO has requested that all boats be removed from the landings during the draw down to allow for maintenance on the landings.
The CLPO is looking for some muscle and/or pickup trucks to clear unclaimed boats from the landings. Please meet at the East Beach parking lot at 9:30 AM on Sunday, November 12th. Thank you!
Please note these changes (effective immediately):
The mailing address for the Cedar Lake Property Owners, Inc. is now
PO Box 1195
Denville, NJ 07834
Mail can also be dropped off at the CLPO mailbox at the landing side of 91 Cedar Lake E (this remains the same for your convenience).
Upcoming Events in the Lake
Cedar Lake Sports
Cedar Lake belongs to a local sports association called Hub Lakes. This includes 11 local lake communities which compete in numerous sports. The lake communities include Lake Arrowhead, Cedar Lake, Estling Lake, Indian Lake, Intervale, Lake Parsippany, Mountain Lakes, Rainbow Lakes, Rock Ridge Lake, Lake Valhalla and White Meadow Lake. The rivalry between these lakes has lasted for years and provides a lot of excitement and fun.
The sports and coaches for Cedar Lake are listed below. Some teams are for adults, some for children, some for men, some for women, and some co-ed. If you are a Community Club member you are eligible to play on these teams. You don’t have to be an athlete; this is for average people who just want to socialize, have fun, and get some exercise. To get involved contact the coach of the sport you’re interested in or the CLCC Sports Chairman Mike Fallon at (973) 627-2510.

Come Bowl With Us!
The Riverview PTA Women’s Bowling League will be starting our 42nd year in September. It is a fun and social league for women of ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS. We have members that are new to the league as well as those that have been involved since the league began, but we need more. Please join this FUN-tastic league.
It is OK if you have never bowled before. You do NOT have to be a member of the PTA, nor do you have to have children in the school. Just come out for a great time. With more bowlers, new teams will be added in September.
If you are interested but not sure you can make the commitment for the whole school year, please join us as a substitute. AS A SUB, YOU CAN BOWL FOR FREE. You also have the flexibility of bowling only when you choose. Just pay the one-time Sanction Fee, and the bowling is free.
We bowl on Thursday mornings at 9:00 AM at Boonton Lanes.
We do NOT bowl on any school holidays or school closings.
We bowl at 11:00 AM when there is a delayed opening.
The league runs from September through May.
