CLCC President’s Message

Dear Cedar Lake Residents,

Welcome to November! I feel confident we have seen the last of the warm weather for the year and am both sad and excited for the long winter months. With the cold weather comes many great events to join in on, the fun that living year round in Cedar Lake offers doesn’t end when you have to wear a few extra layers.

Coming up in November we have a few great events planned. On Saturday the 17th the Ladies Auxiliary will host the Photography Contest, everyone is looking forward to seeing some of the great moments captured by our fellow lake residents. Even if you don’t plan to show off your “photography” skills, it is still lots of fun to take a look at the photos and enjoy a warm fire and a glass of your favorite beverage. On Saturday the 24th we will see the return of our “Leftovers” band night. Kevin Compton and his band will be playing. The bar will be busy and the tunes will be great, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

Looking back at October, we had some really great events. The “Paint n Pallet” hosted by the CLLA and Patti Eckert was enjoyed by many. I saw some great paintings hanging around the lake. Taco night, again hosted by the Ladies was well attended and the food was great, I heard the margaritas were good as well. Both the Pumpkin Carving and Trunk or Treat were lots of fun for the younger Cedar Lakers. The Ladies Auxiliary headed by Jenn Hologounis really did a great job this year with so many events. Thank you very much to Jenn and the excellent group of Ladies who put in lots of time and effort to make Cedar Lake so much fun.

The kitchen project is nearly complete, and the Board is excited to wrap the project up and get back to using the kitchen. We are excited and confident everyone will be thrilled with the upgrades. It will be a pleasure to use this kitchen for many years to come. Many thanks to all who have helped out on this project, especially to Devin DeMarco, Chris Jackson, Bob Vidal, Chuck Feminella, Mike Fallon and Wayne Leonard who helped carry the oven in and out of the kitchen. It was as heavy as it looked, trust me!

The Cedar Lake Pub is a great spot to enjoy these cold Friday nights. We will have the bar moving downstairs for the winter and the fireplace will be roaring. Thanks to Joe Cappetta for organizing a couple of football nights at the bar, I look forward to the next one and seeing many of you down there on Friday nights. The Bar is actively looking for new bartenders and volunteers are always welcome. Reach out to any board member if you would like to lend a hand.

Until next month, I hope you all enjoy the beautiful fall foliage and look forward to seeing you around.

Yours Truly,

Daniel Jackson

CLPO Update

During the winter months, ice and boats don’t mix. Stockholders are reminded, as a courtesy to other members, to please remove your boats if they are presently in the water and properly store them on shore and secure them for the winter months.

Work parties have been busy “buttoning up for winter” as swim lines and turn boards have been put away and the floats and ladders stored for the winter. A special thanks is given to all who continue to help with the many tasks in maintaining the operation of the East and West beaches.

A final note, the CLPO Board of Directors wishes to extend warm wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season to all its stockholders.

Reminder:

Boats without 2018 tags are subject to removal from the Landings at any time and a $100 redemption fee imposed.

Event Recap

Taco Night!

Did someone say tacos, happy hour, AND candy??? On Friday, October 12th, the CLLA hosted it’s 4th annual Taco Night at the clubhouse, catered by Denville’s own El Mejicano restaurant. What a perfect pairing with happy hour at the bar and Joe Cappetta serving up some delicious margaritas! The CLLA would like to thank all who came out to enjoy the evening! The kids looked forward to the taco piñata and the little ones had the best swings.

Paint n Pallet!

On Wednesday, October 3rd, the CLLA organized our 2nd Paint N Pallet at the clubhouse. We had 24 talented ladies join us for an artistic night of dipping and dabbing on pallets to create beautiful signs to decorate our homes.  A big thank you to Beth McNichol for donating the wine; it helped some get a bit more creative!  To the CLLA board, the appetizers were delicious! And for those who asked, we are organizing another Paint N Pallet night to celebrate the upcoming holidays on Friday, November 30th from 8-10; we will have a selection of Holiday theme designs to choose from! Watch Facebook for the online registration! We look forward to seeing you all there!
