CLCC President’s Message

Dear Cedar Lake Residents,

September has arrived too soon again, and while it brings an end to our summer season on the lake, it does not bring an end to the fun and exciting events that we all cherish. This month we continue with our annual end-of-summer BBQ “CedarFest” on Saturday, September 8th. “Walkin’ The Boulevard” will be providing great music all afternoon and evening. The menu includes ribs, clams, and chicken options along with standard BBQ fare. Of course, there will be fun games for both children and adult guests to play, as well as a chance to see which side of the lake is strongest this year by means of our annual East v. West “Tug of War.” This is not an event to miss! As always, we are always looking for volunteers to help out before, during, and after the event. Please send me an email at president@cedarlakecc.com to volunteer.

Looking back at the summer, many of our Hub Lakes sports teams have had really great seasons. Both men’s and women’s horseshoe teams came in 2nd place, our co-ed volleyball team took 3rd, and both men’s and women’s volleyball teams finished in the top 5. Both the swim and dive teams had great finishes to the season, which is very impressive considering how small our teams are compared to other lakes. Our women’s softball team had the best season of all, finishing in 2nd place after a nail-biting championship game.

The Fishing Club held its annual Horseshoe Tournament in mid-August and it was another great success. Congratulations to Gary Petrillo and Phil Ulversoy for bringing the trophy back home to Cedar Lake. Many thanks to the Fishing Club and all of those who showed up to help out.

The bar is open every Friday at 8PM and will be upstairs for a few more months. It’s always a lot of fun hanging out with friends and neighbors. If you haven’t been down in a while I encourage you to stop by and enjoy nights out on the deck as the weather starts to cool down. Bring your friends, you can’t beat the prices! We can always use more volunteer bartenders so let me or Bar Chairman Matt Miner know if you’re interested. No experience necessary; we provide the training.

We have a few other events coming up to look forward to. The annual golf outing will take place on September 22nd at the Minebrook Country Club in Hackettstown. This enjoyable event is one of the CLCC’s biggest fundraisers of the year. The rescheduled Campout at the Clubhouse is back by popular demand and will take place on the 22nd as well. The Ladies Auxiliary (CLLA) has a number of events planned for September including the annual Labor Day Boat Regatta and Movie Night on September 14th.

Exciting news alert! Starting in October, the CLCC will begin a major renovation of the clubhouse kitchen, giving it much needed improvements. Please be patient as we work to complete this project. The clubhouse will still be available for rentals but you will not be able to use the kitchen until completed.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer out on the lake and I look forward to seeing many of you at CedarFest on September 8th.

Yours truly,

Daniel Jackson

CLPO Update

Your annual meeting packet and proxy card have been mailed. If you have not received your packet by September 7, please let the Secretary know at clpo2@optonline.net. Stockholders are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting in order to actively participate in the management of your lake and have your voices heard. Please return your signed proxy even if you plan to attend the meeting. You can mail in your proxy in the envelope enclosed in the packet or drop it off at the mailbox at Landing #7, next to 91 Cedar Lake East. In order to have a legal meeting, we must have a quorum of the stockholders, which means we need more than half of the stockholders to return your proxy or attend the meeting.

There are five positions open on the CLPO Board for a three-year term. Stockholders running are:

Chuck Femminella
Devin DeMarco
Scott Meade
Beth McNichol
Chris Aughey

Reminder:

It’s September and that mean that school is open. Please slow down and watch for children on the roads walking to and from the bus stops.

The beaches will remain open after Labor Day. However, swimming is at your own risk. Work will begin to prepare the waterfront for winter, which includes removal of the swim lane lines, ladders, floats and turn boards.

As noted in the annual report, we will be replacing the shed on the East Beach after Labor Day and will begin construction of the bathroom as well.

Event Recap

Back-to-School Scavenger Hunt!

Who says kids aren’t excited for Back To School??? On Tuesday August 28th, the CLLA hosted our annual Back To School Scavenger Hunt at the clubhouse. We had 23 kids scouting out markers, pencils and other school supplies to get them into the school spirit!  Despite the heat, these kids had a lot of fun, especially with a cold ice pop treat to reward them for their hard work.  In preparation for September, the Ladies Auxiliary would like to wish much success and fun to all the Cedar Lake kids as they begin the new school year!
